PROGRAM
DAY 1: Arrival in El Salvador transfer to Hotel. At night we suggest visiting one of the entertainment areas such as Multiplaza, Gran Via or Paseo El Carmen. Accommodation in San Salvador. Room available after 2pm. In case of arriving early ask for beach day tour ( $ 35 per person including buffet breakfast, beach hut with hammocks )
DAY 2: SAN SALVADOR
Breakfast. Today you will have a visit of San Salvador which includes the residential area of Santa Elena, Zona Rosa, Salvador del Mundo plaza, Roosevelt Avenue, and The relief map with Zapote Museum. You will have a walking tour in the renewed city center, a visit to the national palace, Monseñor Romero memorial, Plaza Libertad, and the artistic Rosario church a top architectural attraction in the city center. Free time for lunch, during the afternoon you will visit Boqueron National Park located on top of the San Salvador volcano, and enjoy the fresh air and the views of the capital and the valleys. ( At Boqueron there are approx 200 stairs, walk at your own peace ) On return a stop at the famous rainbow slide is possible, you can ask to the guide ( ticket not included ). Return to your hotel (B)
DAY 3: JOYA DE CEREN- TAZUMAL – ATACO
Begin your day at Joya de Ceren, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This unique Maya village was preserved for centuries under layers of volcanic ash from a nearby eruption. Step back in time as you wander through the well-preserved structures, witnessing everyday life frozen in time.
Learn about the agricultural practices, daily routines, and cultural traditions of the ancient Maya people. Marvel at the intact houses, kitchens, and ceremonial spaces that reveal their resilience and ingenuity. San Andres Maya Ruins: A Trading Hub Next, we journey to San Andres, an ancient Maya city. Imagine bustling marketplaces, skilled artisans, and bustling trade routes. Explore the remnants of this once-thriving hub where people from San Andres likely engaged in commerce, exchanged goods, and forged connections.
After a morning of exploration, we head to Santa Ana, the second-largest city in El Salvador. Enjoy a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. Capture stunning photos and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this bustling urban center. You’ll have time to explore local markets, sample street food, and appreciate the fusion of colonial architecture and modern life. Free time for Lunch ( not included )
In the afternoon, our journey takes us to Chalchuapa, a charming town steeped in history. Here, we encounter Tazumal, the tallest pyramid in the country. Climb its ancient steps and stand atop this archaeological wonder.
As the day draws to a close, we arrive in Ataco, a picturesque town known for its vibrant murals, artisanal crafts, and coffee culture. Stroll through cobblestone streets, savor local delicacies, and shop for unique souvenirs. Overnight in Ataco. (B)
DAY 4: ATACO – THERMAL WATERS – ATACO At mid-morning take a walking tour to a coffee process plant where you will see and learn about the coffee process enjoy a fresh cup in the middle of the charming gardens of the property return to Ataco . If you like panoramic views you can walk on your own the 100 stairs to the clouds ( that is the name of the stairs that take you to the top of the mountain ) for a beautiful view of the ilamatepec mountain range. During the afternoon enjoy a visit to the thermal waters, where you can relax in any of the pools with different temperatures.. (B)
DAY 5: ATACO – NAHUIZALCO – CERRO VERDE Breakfast. Depart Ataco, on the route We will pass other towns of this route (Ruta de las flores) Salcoatitan, Apaneca you will see and visit the town of Nahuizalco on the way, Izalco and iconic town with Maya descendants, you can still see how the town was divided between Spanier’s and natives with a mix of traditions, then continue to the amazing Cerro Verde national park, which is an extinct volcano now covered by a forest, walk around the rim , bring your camera as views are astonish . Enjoy the views of Izalco volcano, Santa Ana volcano, and Coatepeque lake. Your guide will take you to a restaurant overlooking the lake where you will Free time to lunch, and continue to San Salvador.
DAY 6: Breakfast. Free time until transfer to airport or Bus station. Room available until 11am End of our services
