Tour for Norwegian jewel on 15 November
Departing at 9 AM (or one hour after the ship arrives), this 5.5-hour excursion offers live commentary from your guide. You’ll see sugar cane plantations in the valley, admire the volcanoes along the route, and learn about El Salvador’s coffee culture.
At Cerro Verde Park, enjoy a walk around the rim of this extinct volcano, now covered by a tropical forest. The path is not completely flat but can be navigated by most tourists, even with a cane. Note that the path includes exposed roots, some stairs, and volcanic sand. There are spots to rest if you feel tired. The walk takes between 45 minutes to one hour, with panoramic stops to enjoy views of Santa Ana Volcano, Coatepeque Lake, and Izalco Volcano.
On the return journey, we’ll drive through Izalco town, where you’ll walk the main street and observe locals in their daily activities. You’ll see how the most popular dish in El Salvador, pupusas, is made, and you’ll have the opportunity to make your own pupusa over a clay plate and fire, enjoying its unique crispy flavor. Walk through the town and hear its interesting stories before we continue back to the ship.
