From Guatemala to El Salvador : Mayas, Lakes and Volcanos

Day 1 Tuesday
Arrival in Guatemala Arrival in Guatemala City and transfer to your hotel in Antigua Guatemala. The rest of the day is free.
Day 2 Wednesday Antigua Guatemala
Breakfast. Free day to explore the city on your own. Antigua Guatemala is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its well-preserved colonial architecture. You can visit the Capuchin Convent, the cathedral, the markets, among other attractions, or request a guided tour.
Day 3 Thursday Antigua Guatemala
Breakfast. Another day to continue exploring the colonial city on your own or choose to visit the indigenous market of Chichicastenango, Panajachel, and Lake Atitlan, or take an adventure tour to hike the Pacaya volcano.
Day 4 Friday Antigua – Santa Ana
4:30 AM transfer from Antigua to the bus terminal for El Salvador. Arrival in Santa Ana at 10:30 AM. Your guide will be waiting to take you on a panoramic tour of the second-largest city in El Salvador. Lunchtime (not included). Afterward, visit the Mayan ruins of Tazumal, Casablanca, and the town of Chalchuapa. Finish the day in Ataco.
Day 5 Saturday Ataco
In the morning, visit the coffee process at El Carmen, a historic farm. Then, explore the labyrinth and enjoy lunch. If you wish, you can try some of the unique attractions like the Air Bicycle or Rainbow Slide. The afternoon is free, and you can also request a visit to the hot springs. Accommodation in Ataco.
Day 6 Sunday Cerro Verde
After breakfast, head to the western part of the country to visit Cerro Verde National Park, located between two volcanoes, Izalco and Santa Ana. Take a walk around the extinct volcano’s crater with stunning views of El Salvador’s valleys and volcanoes. Lunchtime on your own. Later, visit the Mayan ruins of Joya de Cerén, an ancient Maya village preserved for hundreds of years under volcanic ash until its discovery in 1977. Arrive in San Salvador in the late afternoon. Accommodation in San Salvador.
Day 7 Monday
San Salvador In the morning, enjoy a guided city tour, including residential areas of Santa Elena, Plaza Salvador del Mundo, the relief map, a walk in the revitalized historic center, El Rosario Church, Monseñor Romero’s Tomb, Government Zone, and lunchtime (not included). In the afternoon, visit Boquerón Park, located at the summit of the San Salvador volcano, for beautiful city views. Return to your hotel in San Salvador.
Day 8 Tuesday
San Salvador – Departure Breakfast and transfer to the airport.
